• Acquisition strengthens Mediq's market leadership in Denmark

As of today, Mediq Danmark has acquired Opco A/S, the number four provider of medical supplies to general practitioners and specialists in Denmark. The acquisition strengthens Mediq’s leading market position in Denmark and ties in with Mediq’s strategy to expand its Direct and Institutional activities.

Opco provides a broad range of medical products for general practitioners and specialists. The product line comprises all supplies required by general practitioners and specialists from disinfectant products, wound care, diagnostics to other medical instruments and related healthcare products. Mediq Danmark used to be the second player in this market, however the acquisition makes Mediq the number one provider of medical supplies to general practitioners and specialists in Denmark.

Opco employs 6 persons and reported sales of € 3.2 million in 2009. Business will continue as usual under Mediq.

Mediq Danmark is active in the Direct & Institutional segment. Besides general practitioners and specialists, Mediq Danmark also provides medical supplies to e.g. hospitals, care institutions and direct at home. Mediq Danmark employs 155 people and sales amounted to € 95 million in 2009.
