5 questions for ...

How did you end up with Mediq?
"After studying for five years, I completed my pharmacy degree at the Silesian Medical Academy in 1992. I then worked for nine years at an independent pharmacy in Katowice. I completed a post-graduate degree in pharmacology in 2001. I also have a passion for Italian culture and language and so alongside my studies at university I also worked part-time as an Italian interpreter for various Italian companies in Poland (including Magneti Marelli, Fiat). Purely by coincidence, I heard in late 2001 that Cefarm Slaski (a division of ACP Pharma, the Polish company within Mediq) was looking for new employees. I applied and accepted a position here as pharmacy manager in early 2002. I have also served as the interim coordinator for the Silezië and Krakow region since 2005."
Can you explain a bit about what your positions entails?
"In my role as regional coordinator, I provide broad-based support to the pharmacies in my region. I am involved in setting the budgets and monitoring their fulfilment. I also actively participate in the process of exploring how we can safeguard the standard of service we provide our customers. And if a pharmacy in my region underperforms, I help develop an improvement plan and monitor its progress. I am also involved in the promotional and marketing activities and HR and coaching activities and represent ‘my’ pharmacies vis-à-vis the various authorities and organisations."
What makes your work at Mediq interesting?
"Mediq is a large and stable company that provides attractive opportunities for both professional and personal development. Innovation is an ongoing and constant process within our company. The world around us is constantly changing and we must consequently also engage in a constant process of improvement and development. I see it as a challenge to work with people (pharmacy employees) and for people (satisfied customers). I also find it very satisfying when we succeed in fulfilling our goals."
How have you been able to develop your professional and personal skills at Mediq so far?
"I see the opportunity to develop professionally as crucial. And Mediq provides me with ample opportunities for growth. Over the past few years I have been able to both develop my pharmaceutical knowledge and experience and groom my skills in professional areas that are not exclusively related to the pharmacy sector, such as HR management, coaching, finance and marketing. I expect my employer to recognise, acknowledge and reward my commitment and dedication. And I am happy to say that Mediq rewards achievement."
What is your personal career ambition?
"My personal ambition regarding my work is to achieve the budgets and to ensure a motivated, totally involved and ambitious team of employees and pharmacy managers. In the future I hope to be able to take an MBA course in order to improve my management skills."
