CEO Marc van Gelder leaves Mediq

Utrecht, January 30, 2014

Marc van Gelder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Management Board, has announced today that, after nine years, he has decided to step down as CEO of Mediq. Van Gelder has taken this decision in good consultation with the Supervisory Board.

Marc van Gelder: “After building Mediq over the past nine years into a leading international healthcare delivery company, this is for me a natural moment to hand over the leadership. 2013 was a good year for Mediq, as we successfully implemented the transition from a public to a private company. Mediq is now in a strong position. I am immensely proud to have led this company over the past nine years and to have had the opportunity to work with a great and committed Mediq team.”

Rob ter Haar, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: “On behalf of the Supervisory Board we are grateful to Marc for his leadership during the last nine years. In this period Mediq developed from a Dutch pharmacy chain and pharmaceutical wholesale company (OPG) into an international homecare delivery company. Mediq has now achieved leading positions in the delivery of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and related care to patients and healthcare professionals in fifteen countries. Under Marc’s leadership Mediq also strengthened its position in the Dutch pharmacies market as “OPG” was rebranded to “Mediq”. By combining the strengths and cultures of all the individual companies it incorporated, the company was transformed by Marc into the leading healthcare player it is today.”

Rob ter Haar will work closely together with Marc and the other members of the Executive Board to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities to a new CEO. A search has been initiated for a successor.
